RM Auctions, in association with Sotheby’s, has sold James Bond’s gadget-packed 1964 Aston Martin DB5, driven by Sean Connery in Goldfinger and Thunderball, for a cool £2.6 million ($4.1 million) in London. Jerry Lee, the seller of the car, had bought it directly from the Aston Martin Lagonda factory for $12,000 in 1969. This is a car that I’ve always wanted, after all it is the most famous car in the world. My plan is to display it in my private car museum in Ohio just as it is.

RM has just established the price of fame. We had a fabulous time during the promotion of the sale of 007’s DB5 and we’re really pleased to have been able to assist with finding it a great new home.

The 1964 Aston Martin DB5 features revolving license plates, an ejector seat and bulletproof shield. It can still manage 145mph and 0-60mph in 7.1 seconds.
