FRANKFURT, Germany — Wladimir Klitschko didn’t let this one go to the scorecards.
The IBF and WBO heavyweight champion stopped former titleholder Samuel Peter in the 10th round Saturday night, an emphatic victory that came after getting knocked down three times and squeaking by Peter in their first meeting nearly five years ago.
Klitschko (55-3, 49 KOs) had controlled the fight and was never in trouble, finally unleashing a flurry of blows to send the bloodied Peter to the canvas in the 10th round. Referee Robert Byrd began counting but then waived his hands to call the fight over at 1:22 of the round.
Peter (34-4) took the fight after mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin backed out.
