As the hip-hop world looks back at Jay-Z’s debut album — Reasonable Doubt, — and the lasting impact it has on rap music, some of the project’s key architects have spoken about the seminal project.
Kareem “Biggs” Burke, Roc-A-Fella co-founder, might have been known as the silent partner, but he was one of the most integral in getting the project out to the masses. Watch him and some other keys players reminisce on how 3 guys from the street created Roc-A-Fella Records, then produced one of the most impact hip-hop albums of the 90s.
“Making that album, it was just the here and now. We knew we were making a great piece of work… but we didn’t know that album was going to have the impact that it did. And it was going to branch out the way it did and be the beginning of something that was going to make history,” Biggs says about the project.
