  1. In being an American you must know the history of Afro-Americans in this country. The 60s and 70s were a special time for being made aware of the state and plight of Afro-Americans in this country. To be an Afro-American and an elected official, but not having an agenda to address the needs of Afro-Americans in America is to raise a red flag about both your humanity, and being an American. As well as believing in Democracy
    The state of Afro-Americans today and yesterday, as well as the future is attributable to the policies and priorities of government. This fact cannot be questioned to the contrary, just as the existence of poverty; hunger and homelessness are directly attributable to the policies and priorities of the American government.
